Final of Finals (Reflective Summary)

It was hard for me sometimes to respond to the questions and the concerns that other people had regarding their issues about information technology and technology within the classroom.
However, i did reply critcally to their coments, and their responses to the original question.

I have learned from other student, in response to my understanding of how each student looks at technology differently. It was interesting how some people become to irritated when it come to integrating technology in the classroom, while others think that it is a good thing to have.

(Example of my discussions)

Have any one of you considered what it would be like in places that can not afford computer that have access to the internet?
If you were teaching in one of these areas, how would you integrate technology/internet in teaching? Who is going to fund this? Perhaps you would say "The Government". Yes, the Government would provide funding for this technology, but how much? Is it enough?
Also, some soon-to-be teachers also mentioned about how some students are not brought up in a would of technological benefits..such as a computers, cell-phane, laptops and so on. So, how do we expect these people to be able to take advantage of this technology? Are we going to provide them with special training for this? Who is going to do it? Who is going to provide the funding?
So as a teacher, we would have to think about these things, and see if the internet is a reliable resource? Or should we only use the internet for certain things? I personally believe that a student should have the choice of what they would prefer to use internet or text books. Yes you can argue the point of, "The Internet is being advanced everyday, so there for it is going to become more involved in daily life". But is it?
The main point of our argument is, is the internet in education bennifitial to learning? Or is it a wall to those who are not able to adapt to the rapidly changing world of technology? Now there is something to think about.

Well, first off i would like to thank you all for your imputs to this discussion.
However, a lot of you are saying that the internet is not so important to intruducing it as an educational tool in the classrooms. Which is fair. But you have to think. Look at todays environment. Many of todays offices, bussiness, what ever. They all use the internet on one way or another. If a student wishes to become successful, then would have to have some training, or experience with the internet inorder to preform a task that is required for the work place.
As a result of this, it would be very useful to introduce the internet in classrooms for students to start to have an understanding of what the internet is and how to use it. Also using the internet, provided them with other skills, such as navagation, typing and communication.
Also, some of you were talking about the government funding the schools so they would be able to have access to the internet. This is a wonderful thing that the Government can do, but it is enought? For example, if the Government gives the minimual amount of funding, and provide the classroom with one computer. Don't you think there would be dissagreements on who gets to use the computer, and what the computer should be used for? So it's a tough call.
I have personally never came from a school that didnt have computers, so this was never a factor for me. Also i have came to notice that i personaly depend on the internet alot for my daily tasks. I also depend on the internet to get information that i would need for a class. Some people say that i can go to the library to get the infomation, Which is true. However, for me i find it a lot easier just to go in a search engine, and look it up.
I also believe that with-in the next 10-15 years, almost every single school will have computers and they will all have access to the internet. Like the quote goes "The role of computers is becoming more and more involed with life everyday".

Web Quest

This WebQuest was very interesting. I was able to gain knowledge in understanding how the links and other forms of digital media works within a webpage. It was also interesting to learn how we can use information that we already know, and apply it to what we are doing. For example we had some background knowledge on adding photos, and working with web pages. So, for me, this was not very hard for me to complete...(two classes to be exact) .

I would like to of remembered to add the class level, and who it is for..oh well....better luck next time.

Web Profolio

The website portfolio was very exciting for me because there are so many new things that i have learned, and it was a lot of fun to learn them too. But sometimes, one has to make sure that their spelling is correct, and that everything is properly labeled. But over all, it was awesome~!

Powerpoint

The power point presentation was very exciting for me, and i thought that it was interesting to learn. I would of added more interesting text to the presentation, but i was new to power point, so i didn't know my way around so well. Oh well practice makes perfect

Spread sheets

I learned that when making an spreadsheet that it is crucial to put all the data into the marking sheet, and to pay attention to the format of the spreadsheet.

I would like to apply my knowledge of spreadsheets to my career in order to not only show myself, but students, and parents on how they are doing within their work. It will also show how the student is doing compared to the rest of the class, and so their overall grade. I think this is important in finding out what the student needs to do, and how well they are working in class.

Lesson Plan

I learned that making a lesson plan is very important for the student and teacher to know what they have to teach and learn during a class. Also, i have taken in the knowledge that it is important to include all the information that are important to moving from one task to another.

I would apply what i have learned from this assignment to post assignments or activities would be, to give everything my complete attention and understanding to what is needed to be done. Also, i would apply my knowledge an lesson plan to my students in my career so i can show them what i know, and get them interested in doing it.
